what are the advantages/disadvantages of Airsoft in general compare to paintball?

How can we successfully regulate Airsoft community as a whole?

I can imagine someone asking:

"What type of projectile can be fired from these markers? And at what velocity?"

Can Airsoft guns shoot projectiles other than the intended ammo or perhaps even modified into a real firearm?

I've researched Airsoft a lot since hearing of it and found the manufacturers had to be made sure they weren't using ballistics grade materials in the construction of any component, so it would be easier to make a real gun from scratch.
Also using any ammo other than the intended .2g plastic BB would most likely cause it to jam or destroy the internal components.

Why bring Airsoft to Australia when paintball is basically the same thing?

I argue that:

1. Airsoft is a hobby just like any other.

2. Airsoft can be a much cheaper means of establishing a firearms collection for the mature enthusiast.

3. Airsoft fires a much lighter projectile than a paintball gun at the same muzzle velocity of roughly 300fps for skirmishes, thus making it have a significantly lower striking force making it safer.

4. If you get hit in the head during a skirmish you aren't blinded like in paintball.

5. The ammo and maintenance is much cheaper making it more appealing to many who have a tighter budget.

6. There are Airsoft players all over the world and it has been growing at a rapid rate, Legalizing Airsoft could open up tourism and friendly competition possibilities between international Airsoft clubs.

What I think, in my opinion, most people would ask:

What IS Airsoft? Basic generalisation of what Airsoft is, and is about.

How is Airsoft different from paintball?

Does Airsoft hurt? And if so, how much? Does it leave any permanent scars?

What are the safety features of Airsoft? Goggles, padding etc. Add on from that ^

From a public and uneducated perspective: How can one benefit from playing Airsoft? Sense of comradery, exercise, better hand-eye coordination, team skills.

When Airsoft is established in Australia, where do you plan to have clubs? In major cities?

Like with regular army, will there be ranks? For acheiving certain goals, can one benefit from them? Ie, awards, badges for skirmishing uniforms.

Glad to help in any way I can :)
